Last month I was lucky enough to spend the day with Emily and Charlie and their friends and family in Cambridge for their wonderful Emmanuel College wedding. The ceremony was held at the Little St Mary’s church on Trumpington Street, and both the inside and outside had been decorated with wonderful floral displays. After the ceremony the wedding party moved to a room at the back of the church for a drink, while we took a few family pictures before moving everyone out for one of the best moments of the day: confetti! After Emily and Charlie had been showered with petals and rice, they took a cycle rickshaw through Cambridge to Emmanuel College for the wedding reception, while the guests made the short walk along Downing Street. Unfortunately the weather didn’t decide to fully play ball; there were a few cracks of thunder and the clouds menaced before a short and sharp shower, however Emmanuel College is blessed with some grand cloisters where the guests took shelter. It wasn’t long before the sky brightened and we made our way out into the majestic gardens for some pictures of Emily & Charlie together. The day was marching on and it was time for everyone to take their seats in the dining hall for the wedding breakfast and speeches, which included an awesome singing performance from the two best men! The evening was packed with entertainment: Charlie is from the superb wedding band ‘Charlie and the Funk Factory’ so knows plenty of ace musicians who graced the stage for some captivating performances. The big surprise of the night revolved around Charlie’s band members who were meant to be having the day off, and instead had secretly organised an impromptu performance and Charlie took to the stage to show off his bassist skills! The dancefloor was packed all the night and the party was certainly one to remember!
