Rosie & Kristian’s wedding took me to Barnwell, a beautiful village just a few miles from the ancient market town of Oundle, just over the Northamptonshire border. I was really looking forward to this Oundle wedding as Rosie and Kristian are both so much fun and super relaxed, and I knew their friends and family would be a fantastic bunch to celebrate with. There was however a little bit of added pressure beforehand as Rosie’s father – Rupert Watts – is a very talented and established photographer, but actually having a father of the bride who understands exactly what I’m after made the job that bit easier!
The day began with Rosie getting ready at The Talbot Hotel in Oundle with her 3 bridesmaids and her mother, and her wonderful laughter masked any pre-wedding nerves that may have been lurking underneath. I then made the short trip to the Kings Arms in Polebrook where Kristian was having lunch and drinks with the ushers and best man for a few pictures, before heading back to Rosie in Oundle for the final bridal preparations. Rosie made a stunning bride with a beautiful dress and wonderful floral decorations in her hair, and her father’s face was filled with joy when he saw her descend the stairs.
We all then made the trip to the village of Barnwell for the wedding ceremony in St Andrew’s church, which had been beautifully decorated with flowers. After the ceremony, it was time for confetti along the church path, and then some family photos within the church grounds. The guests then made their way to Barnwell village hall for the wedding reception, while Rosie and Kristian made some time for photos around the church and at some other picturesque locations in the village. Upon arrival at the reception the low September sun was pouring golden light over the guests, who enjoyed drinks and canapes and catching up with old friends. Inside, the village hall had been transformed by the families, with beautiful decorations and lots of paper lanterns. After dinner and emotional speeches, the awesome wedding band The Houndogs kicked off the party, with their usual blistering rock and roll performance. The dancefloor was heaving all night, and finished with Rosie having a go on the drums herself! At the end of the evening, the remaining guests gave Rosie & Kristian a sparkler send off, perfectly capping a night they’ll treasure forever.
