First off, I’d like to say a huge thank you. Thank you to all my couples who booked, everyone who recommended my wedding photography and to my partner Alice for all her support through the weekends working and late nights editing. The past 12 months have been momentous. It’s been my fourth year as a self employed photographer and I’m grateful that I’m able to do a job I love. This year I’ve photographed 20 weddings – a loose limit I set myself so I can concentrate my energies – and it’s been an honour to play a part in capturing so many wonderful celebrations. There’s been fireworks, crowd surfing, magicians, double rainbows, the hottest summer I can remember, torrential downpours, horse drawn carriages, dance-offs, and of course a whole lotta love. I’ve shot in grand country houses, idyllic countryside locations, a crowded Trafalgar Square, family owned farms, beautiful churches and loads more beside. In 2018 I was also fortunate enough to photograph three overseas weddings which was exciting. In May, I flew to Ireland for Lisa and Richard’s wedding at the grand Mount Falcon Hotel. Towards the end of August I boarded the ferry to France to capture Gabby and Charles’ charming chateau wedding. And at the start of September I took a flight to Lisbon for Katie and Adam’s awesome wedding in the scorching sun. Although it’s been a thrilling year for my photography, the most precious moment has been the birth of our daughter – Poppy June Peach Davis. She arrived in July, right in the middle of wedding season, just to make life that bit busier! Becoming a father has been nothing short of magic, and I feel lucky to be a work-from-home dad. It means I get to share much more in the parenting and enjoying all the precious little moments. It’s been a challenge too. The sleepless nights and the pressure on time has meant in some instances it’s taken me a couple of weeks longer to deliver my wedding photography – let alone keep up with the blogging – but everyone has been very supportive and understanding. Thanks once again to everyone who has made 2018 so memorable, here’s a look at just a few of my personal favourites and highlights of the year.
And if you made it this far, here’s three bonus pictures of our daughter Poppy 🙂
