Cecily & Olly’s Cambridgeshire village home wedding was an absolute delight to photograph from start to finish. The wedding was planned around Cecily’s family home in the village of Bartlow – to the south of Cambridge. That’s where she and her bridesmaids were getting ready, and when I arrived for pre-ceremony photos everyone was dressed to the nines and wearing smiles bright like sunshine. After a few fun group photos – as well as documentary coverage – the bridal party made the short walk to the village church where Olly and his best man were waiting. Both the bride and groom are in the military, and so the groomsmen were all in smart military dress and looked super smart. After the ceremony, we had confetti in the church yard and a few formal group photos too. While the wedding guests made their way back to Cecily’s family garden for the drinks reception, we took 10 minutes to get some relaxed portraits with the newlyweds in a few spots around the village. It was then back to the lovely enclosed garden for a glittery drinks reception, with disco balls floating in the sky above the revellers. Before the wedding breakfast was ready, everyone gathered in the garden for a series of wonderful speeches. After the speeches, and while everyone was grouped together, we took a big group photo of the entire wedding party before they made their way to the marquee in the front courtyard for food. After a delicious dinner guests made their way back to the garden where a jazz band were enhancing the atmosphere and a selection of cocktails were served by some masterful mixologists. The last of the daylight was starting to dip beyond the horizon, so we took a short walk with the bride and groom to find some patches of golden light around the village lanes for some natural and relaxed portraits. It was then back to the garden for dancing and cocktails under the glitterballs and stars.
