Jen & Tom’s Great Lodge wedding day began at a nearby holiday house called Six Apples, where Jen and her family were getting ready. Due to the coronavirus restrictions on guest numbers and international travel, this was to be a small wedding party, with one Bridesman –Richard – and his excellent Spotify playlist. Jen was in the hair and makeup chair when I arrived, so my camera focused on this first. During the morning I also shot some of the details, including the dress, jewellry and the bouquet, as well as capturing documentary style photos to tell the story of the morning. The ceremony venue was a short drive away, and Tom was already on site with the groomsmen to greet the assembling guests. The ceremony took place in the charming Anne of Cleves barn, and included a reading of Baz Luhrmann’s Sunscreen. I’d not heard it read at a wedding before and found it an inspirational leftfield choice. After the ceremony there was time for a few drinks, family photos and we explored the Great Lodge wedding venue grounds with Jen & Tom for some portraits. There’s an adjacent vineyard which is a great spot for pictures, plus extensive and beautiful gardens and grounds. There’s plenty of choice. We even stopped to feed the alpacas who live on the farm, and they also make a fun photo opportunity.
