Laura & Paul’s Island Hall wedding in Godmanchester was a delightful afternoon spent with their immediate family and closest friends. Island Hall is a beautiful 18th century mansion with the gardens backing onto the River Great Ouse. When I arrived at Island Hall I began by photographing some of the details and decorations, Paul welcoming the guests as they arrived and then a quick portrait of Laura before the ceremony. Laura then descended the grand staircase for the ceremony within the beautiful Island Hall. The two mothers were front and centre of the congregation and the swelling emotion and immense pride was right on the surface. After the ceremony everyone made their way out into the splendid gardens and then showered Laura & Paul in confetti, and then the drinks were served. We were all in the gardens for the rest of the afternoon, and it was a really relaxed and family friendly vibe. We made time for various group photos with different assortments of family and friends, and also some portraits or Laura & Paul, and some with their young daughter too. There were lots of children at the wedding, and also a yummy selection of various cakes. The cakes didn’t escape the attention of the children and I enjoyed photographing them eyeing up the cakes, before devouring them as quickly and messily as possible. Towards the end of the drinks reception everyone gathered in lawn chairs to listen to the speeches. There was no big evening party, the wedding was all in the afternoon. This was a really fun wedding, and having a young family of my own I appreciated the inclusion of all the children in the day.
