Pippa & Sandy’s Selwyn College wedding took place last April when the blossoms were at their peak. The day began at the Beth Shalom synagogue for their Jewish wedding ceremony and blessing. I wasn’t permitted to take photographs during the ceremony, and so we staged a few afterwards. I always prefer to capture real moments – and always aim to be discrete during services – but respect for the venue and circumstance always wins. After the ceremony everyone made their way to Selwyn College for the drinks reception. The weather was good and so everyone enjoyed drinks in the gardens, and we made time for family and group photos towards the end of the drinks reception. Then when it was time for guests to take their seats for the wedding breakfast in the dining hall, we went for an explore of the gardens with Pippa and Sandy for some relaxed couple portraits. I’d already spotted a tunnel of blossom in one corner of the gardens, and so directed us towards this spot to make the most of nature’s spring display. Back in the dining hall and Pippa and Sandy banged the college gong to start proceedings, and then followed with some traditional Jewish prayers and blessings in Hebrew before the wedding breakfast was served. After dinner guests retired for coffee and speeches while the band got ready to play in the dining hall. The party then returned to here for lots of dancing into the evening.
